Hello all!!
I'm a chubby 20year old... And I have been on the trying-to-lose-weight-but-failing wagon for the last 8years :)
I was a skinny kid; in class 4 i was 24kgs. In class 5, I was 35kgs. In class 6, I became 45kgs. In class 7, 55kgs(you see how this is going!!). Till here, it was ok. I was tall enough(5'6") to carry the weight off, and I still think I looked my best at that size.
In class 8, I turned 65kgs... chubby. Till class 11, I gained another 5kgs(thankfully not 30kgs like the previous trend!!).
So anyway, I was a 70kg 15yr old... and somehow I ended up with a high blood pressure of 150/100!!! The doctor told me to lose weight RIGHT away, and since my cousin's wedding was coming up in some months, I tried, and managed to get rid of 6kgs through regular walking, cycling and heating healthy. My blood pressure went down to 120/80, and has thankfully remained there ever since :)
My weight, though, steadily climbed, thanks to academic pressure and less and less time and inclination to exercise OR eat healthy. By the time I reached my 1st year of college, I weighed 75kgs!! Though not obese or anything, the excess weight did nothing for my already horrible self-esteem, so i spent a good many days feeling sorry for myself.
Then, my life started changing... I joined martial art classes in the beginning of my 2nd year. 6 months later, I had to discontinue my classes, but by then, I was hooked to exercise, and I am proud(kind of) to say that since then I haven't gone more than a month straight without any exercise!! And, honestly, I didn't give up a single morsel of junk food, but I managed to shed 5kgs with 3hours of kung-fu a week. Now, I'm steady at 70kgs, obviously happier than I was at 75kgs. And even if I eat a LOT and gain some, I'm down to 70 within some days.
Anyway, after Kung-Fu, I gymmed for a while(which I found TERRIBLY boring)... Then I moved on to aerobics. LOVED it, but had to stop because of transportation inconveniences :'(
Which, finally, brings me to where I am today. I recently came across a few running training programs, which claim to turn you into a 5k(3.1miles) runner in 8weeks. Yes, I was fascinated. And some weeks back, I started on it. I'm not going to lie and say that I'm not bothered about weight loss anymore, because I AM!! But, this time, my primary motivation is not to lose weight, but to be able to run in my city's half marathon on 1st November, and complete it with dignity, not huffing and puffing and collapsing before the half point!!
So this is my story, I'll be updating my progress regularly, and I'd love for people to join me on my mission! Thankyou for reading!!
